Alma Heart Game

You fall into mud. It is sticky and sucking and cloying and whether you stay still and try to remain calm or struggle and try to get out, you're sucked downward. You can't breathe, you can't (of course) see, and you can feel the crushing weight of earth on you. When the blackness becomes overwhelming, you find yourself somewhere else...

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

You take the hardened path winding downward. Parts of it squeeze tight; other parts bulge wide open that they're almost big, empty rooms in and of themselves. Other parts twist, and drop -- the path is unpredictable, and you have to move carefully.

Eventually, it seems to continue straight ahead -- but as you approach, you realize that was an optical illusion, hardened flesh that is colored to look like the path continuing, and it actually drops out from under your feet. It's not a long drop, and will be easy enough to climb back up, but it's a sudden one.

It ends in -- not really a room, or even a cave opening, so much as just a space which doesn't make much sense. It is all wrong in here. Parts are soft and covered with cloth; other parts are hard and damp and bloody. Parts are decorated in beautiful gold and gems and parts are in blacks and iron.

A pool is in the middle of the space, water mixing with stagnant mud mixing with blood. From the center of it is a flat rock, or what looks like a rock, with a doll on it. The doll is androgynous, pretty, with eyelashes until tomorrow and a small curving smiling mouth, but its hair is chopped short and it has thick brows drawn on. Its eyes are closed. Around it are laid out a lot of clothes, sized for the doll:

- A yellow short-sleeved dress with lace on the bottom and a black flower pattern on it.
- A super stretchy yellow and black skintight body suit (with a hole over the butt)
- black jacket with puff sleeves
- Black drop crotch pants
- Dark gray leggings
- A yellow jacket detailed in black with pockets
- Tuxedo wrist cuffs
- A victorian-style woman's dress, made to look like a uniform
- A black tunic top with yellow detailing on the edges
- Spandex vest and shorts, apparently underwear
- A large beaded flower necklace in yellow and black on a cord
- Open topped black boots
- A starched-collared men's military uniform
- Platform heeled black leather fringe boots
- A jacket with a high 'chinese-style' collar and sleeves
- Sturdy yellow socks
- Black and yellow leather strips for arm wraps
- Utility Belt

Although its face is porcelain, Its body is just made of cloth, unremarkable, though it seems kind of...lumpy.

There is no way out except the way you came.

A-alma, I'm going to need to have a chat with you after this...

[carefully picking her way over to the pool; is the rock close enough to jump to?]

Yup!

[taking a deep breath and JUMPING TO THE ROCK]

You land on the rock with the doll!

[taking a moment to sigh in relief over not landing in blood and mud before bending down and carefully picking the doll up]

The lumps inside its cloth body feel... sharp. But you're moving carefully.

[yes verrrry carefully. looking to see if there is an opening anywhere on the doll]

None! Even the seam is done up tightly.

... [huffs!!! and tugging a seam ripper out of her bag and setting to work trying to undo the seam without tearing the doll too much]

You open up the doll! Its eyes flick open as you move it around, revealing one glossy glass eye, and one normal human eye, blue.

The stuffing in its body cavity is mixed in with large glass shards.

[p-pausing when the eyes open but otherwise picking out the glass shards are carefully as one can without wearing gloves]

[What do you do with them?]

[set them off to the side for now! just right next to her while she tries to figure out how to sew the doll up once they're all out]

[You get them all out! And yes, now what.

[putting the seam ripper away and rummaging through her bag]

I haven't got any thread....

Oh, wait.

[getting out a needle sutures and stitching it back up, SUCCESS??]

You suture the doll. Now you have a naked doll with considerably less broken glass in it.

[it is progress ok]

[looking over the clothes and picking out the ones that he typically wears in Aather, along with the victorian-style woman's dress that is made to look like a uniform. and...putting it all on the dool]

Ok, the doll is wearing a spandex outfit with the dress uniform over top!

It blinks at her, and the eye falls out into her hand.

N-no, don't fall apart...!

[trying to put the eye back in 8(!!]

It won't go back in. When it opens its eyes again there's a glass eye in its place, matching the other one.

[pausing and looking at the glass eye in her hand]

Oh...is it better like this?

[:|a pocketing the glass eye then, and wrapping up the glass shards and sticking them in a safe place in her bag]

Should I leave you here then?

Well it's the human eye but it's solider and dryer than you'd expect for a human eye, for sure. Easily pocketable, though. Just don't sit on it.

The doll doesn't answer.

[hmm...]

It seems kind of lonely to leave you here...how about we at least get you some company.

[picking the doll up and jumping back off the rock to head back where she came from!]
