You fall into mud. It is sticky and sucking and cloying and whether you stay still and try to remain calm or struggle and try to get out, you're sucked downward. You can't breathe, you can't (of course) see, and you can feel the crushing weight of earth on you. When the blackness becomes overwhelming, you find yourself somewhere else...

You feel the person inside shift, and then...

A body slides out to puddle in the narrow flesh path with you. It's of -- well, it's Alma's body, but it doesn't look right at all. It's human, for one thing, and unlike Alma's body it is covered all over with hideous twisted scars. The damage is so intense that the shock-white hair is only growing on one side of his head, the rest of his scalp too tattered and scarred to support hair through all the tissue there. His eyes are completely numb and he seems semi-conscious at best.

There are also many tubes, wires, pipes leading from further in the pucker to attach to his body. If you were thinking of taking him with you, give it up; the pipes are literally embedded in his organs, it seems.

His lower stomach is bulging despite the thinness everywhere else, and seems to have something shifting under the skin.

He draws a shuddering breath, lashes fluttering.
