CONFUSED . . . Some part of him wonders if Alma exudes some kind of Kanda calming pheromone as a result of his experimentation.

Really though he does like Alma pretty well. On top of the bonus points he got for being someone that Kanda of all people would admit to being friends with, he's just an honestly nice guy. He couldn't pick up on anything underhanded or remotely suspicious about him, and he's very sympathetic to the kind of life he must've led (as Nova can understand it.) He genuinely does have the impression that Alma's a good guy who deserves this second chance at freedom and is super glad that he has Kanda here with him to take it (aside from the fact that they have to be dead to be here and all.)

What made you finally decide to app him?

Zazzle put the volumes on my desk.

OKAY ACTUALLY THOUGH the app story is a little pathetic, which is basically that Zazzle went "I want to app post-Sabra Kanda somewhere, probably Thusia, but I'd really want an Alma because then he'd never be able to recover his pride again around his old teammates" and she said this in plurk and Boxy and Aviy and everyone were like "why hasn't Haru just apped Alma for you yet" and I was like "YOU GUYS I HAVE NOT EVEN READ THAT ARC I READ UP TO VOL 11, THEN READ CHAPTERS 199 AND 200 BECAUSE THEY SEEMED EPIC AND I LIKED ALMA THERE" "Lol no just app him you'll love him." "I DUNNO GUYS." "no seriously haha just. You'll love him." "I guess I'll read the Alma arc and see about apping IF YOU MAKE ME AN ICON SET ZAZZLE"

So she put vols 19-21 on my desk, which I ignored for three days.

Then I was tired and wanted to be away from the computer so I too the volumes to the bath and read them.

And then made myself an Alma icon set. And wrote an app.

And then reread all of D.Gray-Man from the beginning to the current chapter.

And then wrote terrible Alma fanfics.

And then got in.

And then played nonstop.

tl;dr: THE INTERNET WAS RIGHT.


How does Dera feel about the lack of team dynamics in Thusia generally? Does it affect his interactions/view of the place?

OKAY I WILL ESSAY PROPER AT YOU TOMORROW but for a quick bullet point answer:

-Yes
-Opened up the opportunity for him to allow other "teams" to live with them
-Causing a shift in his behavior to try to be less paranoid
-Playing a part in the breakdown of "Scowl" as who he wants to identify as
-Isn't sure how to handle a setting like this!
-Misses team dynamics because they were easy to understand
